Benevolence

40cm x 30cm

Oils on linen

In slip frame ready to hang

I feel linen lends itself to these tender paintings.  Benevolence  was painted in many layers and is definitely one of those paintings that is the sum of its parts.  It reminds me how nature lends itself to our imagination. There is a benevolence within natures that buoys us all onwards. Mary Oliver's wonderful poem 'The Wild Geese' has been a balm for as long as I know it, but it's been especially on my mind a lot lately (you can hear Mary Oliver recite it HERE)
