Chrysalis

A chrysalis is the hard, protective pupa stage in the lifecycle of a butterfly, occurring between the caterpillar and adult winged stages. Similarly, this painting feels like early beginnings for a new stage of my work. The volumous application of paint is a departure from the breathy, whispers of paint in recent work. The ballast here feels like a beginning.
