  • A Mexican Odyssey
    A Mexican Odyssey

Painted on return from Mexico – I limited myself to three pots of the primary colours – as I had done in the desert. This bigger work incorporates much of what I saw in the desert with my contemporary working practices. In recent times my work has become much larger in scale. I really enjoyed making this piece as it felt exciting and like a signpost setting me off in a new direction.

I was fortunate to visit Mexico just after a hurricane. The storms continued sporadically during my stay – but were always followed by great blasts of sun. The impact of the rains on the vegetation was stunning – it seemed the landscape was growing with gusto before our eyes.
