Land of Plenty

  • Origin Gallery
  • Harcourt St, Dublin 2
  • February 2011

Arctic Sensation

  • Exhibited as part of the The Singer Corner Group Show at The Lavit Gallery
  • Cork
  • March 2011

I began to make these painting during a residency at The Cill Rialag Artists Retreat on Bolus Head in Kerry in December 2010. Ballads to the Bog

  • Cill Rialaig Gallery
  • Ballinskelligs, Co. Kerry
  • October 2010

During my residencies at the Cill Rialaig Artists Retreat I fell completely in love with the local boglands - this was completely unexpected considering I went there to paint the sea! I love the colours and textures of the bog and the fact that it is a living, breeding thing - ever changing! My interpretations of the bogs- and indeed the wider landscape - have been enormously influenced by the late Writer & Artist Michael Kirby - whose poems accompanied the pieces.

Returning

  • County Carlow Municipal Offices
  • Tullow, Co. Carlow
  • December 2009

The 'Returning' series was exhibited in The County Carlow Municipal Offices in Tullow (my home town) in December 2009. It brings together a collection of my studies of the Irish Landscape - which envigorated my painting following15 years overseas. These initial studies were my first landscapes - I felt a sort of compulsion to make them - to document my home country upon returning. These paintings of Ireland facilitated a shift in my perspective, a deepening in my practice. They were a starting point for - and continue to influence my more recent larger works.
